About Us

Following the phenomenal success of The Running Bug, we wanted to take its ethos into cycling, encouraging as many people to get on bikes as possible.

The Bug is all about enjoying your time in the saddle and feeling good about the fact that you're getting out there and being active.

You don't need to have all the latest gear; and we won't sneer at you if you think Bradley Wiggins is a character on Coronation Street.

This is the most supportive social network for cyclists on the web and it is here to help cyclists of all abilities make the most of every ride.

Enjoy!

Meet the team

James Bug - Head of Marketing and Content

Do you have a nickname?
JB

What do you love about cycling?
The only other sports that give the same sense of freedom are snowboarding and running. Love all three!

Furthest you've ever cycled?
50 miler around the Cotswolds and I'll equal that in May when I ride the 81km Etape Caledonia in the Scottish Highlands.

What other sports do you enjoy?
Running, football, snowboarding and surfing are my other main sports but I'll give any sport a go. Neil Bug from The Running Bug has challenged me to a squash duel which should be interesting, especially as neither of us know the rules.

What's your dream goal/ ambition?
To get everyone in the world active and healthy… and to own a chalet in The Alps. Snowboarding in winter, cycling and running in summer – heaven!

Sum up what you do at The Bug in a sentence…
You know that friend you have, the one who always manages to get you doing something out of your comfort zone? Kind of a cross between Mr Motivator and Frodo. Think I might be that guy. You're welcome.

What might bugs be surprised to know about you?
Pheasants are my second favourite animal. They are pure comedy gold.

If there was a zombie apocalypse what special survival skill could you bring to the table?
I can sniff out a burger from miles away, so I'm sure I could find us some food while we wait to be rescued.

Who would you most like to go cycling with and why?
Gordon Ramsey. He'd be good for motivation and could rustle up a feast when I get hungry.

Lauren

Lauren Bug - Senior Digital Content Specialist

Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?
My friends from home call me Ralph or Ralphie, simply because of Ralph Lauren….they're not a very imaginative bunch.

What do you love about cycling?
Overtaking show offs on my way to work, and speeding down hills with my legs off the pedals like a child.

Furthest you've ever cycled?
Just under 400 miles through northern France when I took part in a fundraising ride for Help for Heroes.

What other sports do you enjoy?
To watch; Rugby and football, my mum's a season ticket holder at Arsenal so I get to go with her occasionally. As far as actually taking part in sport, I enjoy running despite being rather terrible at it.

What's your dream goal/ ambition?
To see all the parts of the world, which, when I close my eyes I can't imagine what they're like.

Sum up what you do at The Bug in a sentence…
Other than appointing myself as team baker, my role is to write articles that inspire you to get on your bike.

What might bugs be surprised to know about you?
In the space of 4 days I did a paraglide from Table Mountain, skydiving, went shark diving then topped it all off by doing one of the highest bungee jumps in the world.

If there was a zombie apocalypse what special survival skill could you bring to the table?
I'm really good at hide and seek, so I'd be great at keeping people away from any scary monsters.

Who would you most like to go cycling with and why?
Mark Cavendish, you only need to look at him to understand why my choice doesn't require an explanation!
