This year tho its a mission becuase i will be doing the prudential ride london its a 100 mile route that goes through the hills of surrey starts at the olympic park and finishes on the mal. I will be doing this for MAcmillan cancer charity in mermory of a good friend of mine how died last year from cancer that was helped by macmillan. So this is my mission that i will do with pride. Hi GarryT,

Welcome to The Cycling Bug! I am sorry to hear about your friend, I am sure that he and MacMillan appreciate what you are doing for them. If you need some help with the training be sure to check out our 100 mile training plan to help you get through it in one piece.

As you are quite new to the site I recommend taking a look at the #friendme forum thread and uploading a profile picture, as they are good ways of meeting new people on the site and growing your support network.

Keep on riding!

Chris.

Hi Garry,

I am also part of Team MacMillan for this years Prudential Ride London. Maybe we can encourage each other over this site!!! I have set up my own blog about my training for this event and a justgiving page. Best of luck and maybe I'll bump into you (not literally) during Ride London as we all come together for Team MacMillan :)

This is brilliant maybe we could meet at the macmillan tent and do the ride all together? It will be my first Ridelondon. I'm doing the tour of Cambridge in June it's 84 miles so gearing up for that.

Sounds good to me... as for rest days, I take at least 2 a week as I do other fitness classes such as swimming, running, spinning and body pump, along with some Gym CV and weights. So rest days are important, especially when you start the longer distances.
