Who am I?

Who am I?

With the exciting new website and community starting up I decided to put myself forward as one of their bloggers.

So who am I and what makes me special? Well now that’s a question I quite often find myself trying to work out! Well, I’m just an honest regular down to earth guy who has a passion for cycling. Oh and the what makes me special bit........ my mum says I’m special but I think her interpretation of Special and mine may differ somewhat!

I’ve been cycling now for little over 2 years and have well and truly been bitten by the bug! I bought my first “Proper” bike, oops I’ve just opened a can of worms here with the proper bike remark (lol)! I remember the day after I collected my first road bike I cycled to work, it was only 7 miles but for someone with an ever expanding waistband, it was a bloody tough 7miles!

During the last tough climb, which I may add is no longer tough, on route to my work I had to get off and push the bike only half way up the climb. I felt physically sick and was cursing myself for wasting money on a stupid bike which I had already developed a hatred for! Arriving into the works car park I was that knackered that I forgot to clip out and yip you got it, I had an impromptu meeting with the tarmac! I’d hardly hit the ground and I was back up again, you know, that way that you hope no-one actually saw you fall off your bike! Thankfully for me my embarrassing moment was a private moment!

So from feeling physically sick and hating the bike on day one to just over 2 years later where as Ronald McDonald would say, “I’m Lovin’ it!” What a couple of years it’s been, I’ve completed several Sportives including two 113 mile efforts, knocking 42 mins off my time second time round! I’ve lost over 2.5 stone, practically stopped using my inhalers (asthma) and living life to the max while raising money for our local Cancer Centre!

A couple of admissions though; when I first started out I was adamant that I wouldn't fall into the lycra brigade, no chance I was becoming one of those weirdos! I stuck by my guns for several months cycling with a pair a MTB baggies, then I became a closet lycra fan and started wearing a pair of lycra shorts under my baggies so nobody could see, yet I could still experience the feel of lycra upon my skin. Then came the final stage, the all out admission, the 'I’m not bothered what I look like in lycra' stage, that was it I was now a fully fledged MAMIL.

LEO Privacy is the best applock! Cool interface and features Simple and beautiful, I like custom background feature to get a theme - It's a fun way of getting themes by youself.  It doesn’t lagg like other loker that lock apps do and it's really light too.

Nothing wrong with being a Mamil! Haters gonna hate and all that, it's just the best clothing to wear on the bike.
