Gran Fondo La Marmottee 2-6th July 

The oldest, most prestigious, and toughest cyclosportive in France, The Gran Fondo La Marmotte is a classic cyclo sportive event based in the French Alps and an ideal excuse for a French cycling holiday. Flying into the airport on the Thursday before the event there is plenty of time to adjust to the local area and get set up for the weekend. Saturday is the big day, taking part in the 174km ride tackling some very hill mountainous terrain. Sunday is an optional 13km, taking part in the Grimpee de L'Alpe with your very own timed hill climb. These are 6 ways to conquer your hill climb so you can prepare yourself for the big ride. 

Wiggle French Revolution - 14th June

There are two courses to choose from, Epic 70 miles or Standard 54 miles. Routes will explore the amazing North Coast and National Park offering superb traffic free cycling on an extremely well signposted course. If you are in the UK at the time then no worries, as all included in the price is a ferry and parking from Dover the morning of the event. The route starts and finishes with a perfectly flat 7 miles as you head along the coast road to Sangatte. Then the course becomes a little hillier as you pass the stunning Mont d’Hubert and Cap Blanc Nez, steeped in History from WWII. This is a fantastic event to get involved in but you better book up quickly as it is capped to only 800 riders taking part.

L'etape du Tour - 19th July 2015

The L'etape du Tour is a 142km route that takes you up to Les Sybelles at 1705m. Throughout the entire challenge, like for the professionals during the Tour de France, you will ride on roads which are closed to traffic. Haute Route - 23-29st August 2015

Set over 7 consecutive stages within the space of a week this really is a one off sprotive covering 781 km. For the first time the “climbers marathon” will traverse the French Alps starting from Nice on the Mediterranean coast, offering some of the world’s most iconic ascents for cycling and finishing in the Swiss City of Geneva, on the shore of the lake and its infamous water fountain.

La Ronde Picarde - 11th September 2015

Considered as not so difficult (almost no altitude difference), La Ronde Picarde has plenty of character and peculiarities with his well-known winds pushing you through the 180km. A cyclosportive initiated by the famous French cycling journalist Henri Sannier, this race attracts numerous amateurs, foreigners and celebrities taking part. Taking place later in the year you have all summer to get training, and with cool temperatures helping you along the way this really is one to sign up for.
