Started on a carrera Todd then moved up to a mekk carbon like brewy have moved on again to a Merida ride 93 carbon, I love both my carbons but the Merida is a dream , I even managed the long ride on the velothon Wales on the Merida, can't wait for my next sportive

You can get Carbon for around £600 these days, and then there is always the secondhand market for a first road bike, more bang for your buck !!

Been using a cannondale caad 8 2015 model. This is my first road bike and really enjoy riding it roll on the summer months

Thanks for the input from everyone specifically for my dilemma. So many good bikes for the money out. I've now taken delivery of the Specialized Secteur Triple Sport. And now that I've changed the toeclips (fitted ones only let toes onto pedals. Not good) to a deeper, strapless type I'm really pleased with it. The gear ratios are what swung it with a slightly higher top than I have been used to and a similar mid-range.
